Mommy's Little Monster

Does this little guy scare you? He does me! This is Deegan James, our 4th and final child. (lol, no, this was decided BEFORE we knew that Deegan would inherit all 3 of the other children's "naughty" traits, and bring quite a few of his own tricks with him!
He is so loveable, and huggable, he loves kisses, and hugs and squeezes, and he is sweet and holds mommy's hand, and kisses my cheeks, and smiles with those giant, cutie pie dimples...... AW! He is a doll!
But do you remember Eddie Haskell from Leave it to Beaver? Lol! Yup, I see this personality in my other son, Aaron, and Deegan now as well. I can just imagine the "Well hello Mrs (fill in some lucky little girl's mom's name here hehe), You are looking beautiful, and what a pretty dress you're wearing today!", then, "Hey, (lucky girl's name again), let's go throw all the books off your mom's bookshelf, and rip the door off the hinges!" Well, ok, maybe not to that degree, and i will pretend I do not hear what it is my sons may be saying to a lucky girl someday, but this is what Deegan did last week. Yes, you read that right. This cute little 1 year old, actually ripped the bedroom door off it's hinges!
He did a lot of things last week, after he let me see his true colors, I wasn't really given a lot of time to  comprehend this, when my house was literally torn in pieces, by my little monster!
He is definately one very, busy boy, and i am just to old to keep up with him I guess. Within a matter of minutes, this young man will rip your bookshelves apart! He will dump toy crates, toy boxes, toy bins, all over each room of your house! He can also rip open Lucky Charms boxes, poke holes in the bags, (while you are cleaning up the pasta he "spilled' out of the pasta containers), and he can climb tables and push chairs to counter tops so he can easily grab your overfilled coupon binder and throw them on the floor, making them all fall out of their perfectly placed little pockets, all arranged for a fast and simple errand day!!!! AAAHH!!!!
This little guy is just so cute when he's doing it though, but I'm starting to think he is about ready for time outs!
Deegan was born with cleft lip and club foot and a few other very small issues. I was told he would have much more wrong with him, and we are now going through some issues with Chiari Malformation and Hydrocephalus, (both are very minor, and not anything to really worry about), So, I have to admit, I have been very easy on him. I believe he knows this to, and I think he thinks he will always get away with a lot more then most. Not anymore!
Anyway, the door coming off it's hinges was the last straw with me, I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. I have heard the saying from people as they tell others about what happened that day at their homes with their crazy children, lol, and I have often heard people say, "He ripped the door right off the hinges!" so, I am sure there are plenty that will not believe me, however, I thought of that before I fixed the door, and I do have a picture of the door hinge being unscrewed.
Deegan was in the room playing towards the door, and I didn't think much of it, then I saw the door had a pretty good size space between it and the wall. I thought that was a little odd, so I went to check it out. Well, I saw the large screw that was pulled from the hinge, and I decided i will go away for a minute or 2 before i lose my mind. I walked away to clear my head, heard some loud "door noises", and came back to find Deegan wiggling the door and looking at the top at the 2nd screw that was ready to fall out of the hinge!
I ran over as best I could, and grabbed him, and just when I did, the door was on the floor! I had to quickly set him down, pick the door up and try to reach it as best I could without a chair or anything, to place the screw back through.
He just sat with a giant grin on his face, as I stood there in shock, just looking at him and trying to figure out, "what do I say or do here?" I just picked him up and hugged him, and took him to the kitchen, and gave him a banana. (always a monkey's favorite treat!)
Do you have any super nutty stories to share about your own little monsters? I have tons, and I know most of you do too!! Please feel free to comment and leave any links to your posts, blog, facebook, where you have your own horror stories!!

Counting down the hours

I'm driving myself crazy this past week, and the closer Friday morning gets, the nuttier I'm becoming!
The other week, I had Deegan, (the cute little messy guy in the picture above;p), at his regular checkup. Everything was fine and dandy, the nurses giggled and told him how handsome he was, and he winked and flirted as he always does. lol.
I had 2 of my other little ones with that day, and they were starting to get cranky and bored, as I expect;p
I really get bothered when you walk into the doctors office, only to find a waiting room filled with people! How and why did they overbook? Why can't I charge them $50 when they are more then 15 minutes late?
After about 45 minutes, the dr comes in. Now, he has been the pediatrician for all 4 of my children, he has delivered them all, (well, Deegan was born in the ambulance, lol), and he has been the family dr for almost 20 years.
So, I was a bit shocked, and quite upset, when he acted as though he met me for the first time. This is not like him, and I know he was very busy that day. But anyway, he went on to inform me that Deegans' head is much to large and he needs a CT scan to see how bad the hydrocephalus is. I never even heard this word before, and when I asked what that was, he started explaining and all I heard was; fluid, skull, brain.
At that moment, I felt like the world exploded, I cried and cried and cried and the kids kept asking what was wrong and Deegan kept looking up at me smiling.
He has already had a few small, very minor issues in his little life. Cleft lip and Club foot, and now this! He has a few more surgeries left in his next few years, to help with his foot and lip. He did have his lip closed at 6 months, and his foot surgery happened at 8 months. He has been casted since birth, and now continues to wear his Ponsetti boots and bar at nighttime. But he is a remarkable young man, and is expected to have a complete recovery. So, this was not something I was hoping to hear at the visit that day.
My ultrasounds did show A lot of things going on with him, and every time i had an ultrasound done, (which was 3 days a week for a few months), they "found" something else wrong with him. (I do have posts about this, and I'm sure this will be the topic of more to come)
Friday at 7am, Deegan and I will be headed to the hospital for his CT scan. I wish there were an easier way of doing this, and I also wish somebody would call me back! I've been trying to find out, are they starting the procedures that day? When does that start? Why, when the doctor wrote, "stat 24 hours", on Deegans referral papers, are we only being seen 19 days later?
The part that I find the hardest, is the "do not let patient eat anything after 11pm the night before" I always had a hard time with that, lol. Even though when we do get to the hospital at 7am, they will say, "Oh, his appointment is not until 9am!" Then we will be stuck in a small room, Deegan wiode awake, and always smiling and talking;p, while we hear the other little babies and small kids crying, certainly because they are HUNGRY!!
Either I will end up crying the whole time, or being so angry that I knock a dr or nurse out, due to the ignorance of making these kids wait so long while the specialists have coffee and cinnamon rolls;p (yes, I've seen this)
I know they are doing their job, but isn't there any way, to make this a more pleasant experience for these kids??
I believe after I drop the other little ones at my mom's for the night, I'm taking Deegan out for some pizza and then after he goes to sleep, I'll be drinking my pot of coffee, and trying to figure out more of this blogging stuff;p Anything to keep my mind off of the next day!

my intro

i believe i should introduce my family. since that is mainly what my blog is about.
i am trying to figure out the best way to write about my daily events and who it involves. i think if i write it as a play, it would be easier to follow.
first, there is me. i am a 37 year old, partially disabled, coffee drinking, sort of obnoxious, told i'm eccentric, passionate, super proud mommy of 4 real awesome children.
i consider myself a SAHM, however, on my days off, i do work part time as a bartender.
i enjoy my job very much. i have always been a workaholic, working 2 or more jobs at a time. until we were blessed with our 3rd child, and i had finally given in to get long needed, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.
of course, with my goofy luck, the surgery was a complete failure. so now, i have been diagnosed with RSD, (or CRPS), among other things. which by the way, i hope to also include in my blogs.
i was going to get my other foot and ankle done, after i healed from the first surgery, but of course that may never happen. neither will i ever find a surgeon who can fix some of what went wring with the first surgery. maybe through my hopeful new network, i will find some contacts, who knows. but so far, i have yet to find a confident surgeon who even wants to attempt this.
i also seem to have a hard time finding real information on the internet, about these diseases. so, i hope to meet some other RSD patients, and their families, loved ones as well.
pain is a constant battle with me, and there are several times throughout the day, that i have a hard time dealing with the pain.i usually only sleep for a couple hours a night, however, here are some nights that it is easier to sleep. i am usually up and about, pacing, drinking my trusty maxwell house with coffeemate powdered creamer. yum!, or eating ice.
it isnt as bad as it sounds, as on a normal night, the kids would be asleep and i do use that time to figure out bills, cut coupons, work on the computer, paperwork, and finish my to do lists.
i will stop with the chronic pain issue for a bit, as that will be another focus of my blog.
back to my introductions;p
my husband is also 37, and we have been together since we were 16. he is my very best friend and i can not imagine life without him.
of course we have arguments, and bad days. we have always gotten through them, fairly well. of course this will be another part of my blog and website that i am working on. i plan on having a section where we can all share tips and advice on "date nights", how we get through crazy days with kids, and i hope to help people with some, as well as learn from others too!
my husband is an owner operator (truck driver), for almost 14 years now. before this, he was a photographer. unfortunately, we dont live in the type of area where his talents can flourish;p which is terribly infortunate, cause he has a lot of exceptional talent!
he also absolutely loves vw's. he is very talented with those as well. he is in the process of building, yet another show car, and i'm secretlu hoping this one stays longer then the last;p
so, if anybody has any questions, or needs some help with vw's. feel free to ask! because he does real well working on them too.
on top of that, he is a real awesome dad! he is a very hard worker and he will actually change diapers, get up with a baby on the weekends, and help out every ow and then with housework. we are all very lucky to have him.
although, i do believe he has been going through midlife crisis since we met. i realize this is a common issue with males. he is always torn between, jet skis, dirt bikes, vw's, motorcycles, 4 wheelers, and these are just recent. lol.i usually don't know what to expect each day! another big player in my sanity levels!
he has always had a bad back, (ruptured disc) and was recently diagnosed with celiac disease.
we are in the process of learning about this disease as well, so, i would be grateful for any input!
from time to time, i will definately have much to say about in laws! i am sure we all do.
my father in law is a very grumpy, mean little man, who is always complaining, and angry about something, and everything.
my mother in law, she is sort of a hypochondriac. well, not sort of, lol, she is a major one. she has a very strange way of having teeny little issues, turn into gigantic, enormous, life threatning catastrophes!
i have 2 sisters, and 2 brothers, and my mom. we are a very closeknit family, for the most part. we talk on a regular, and sometimes daily basis, and spend a lot of time together. plus, there are several small children between all of us. which leads to a lot of birthday parties, and picnics;p
now to my children;p
bethany is 18, she is a very smart, funny, sweet, messy, loud, and smart alecky young lady. she graduated with honors, and plans to be a chef. she loves music, playing guitar, and coloring her hair.
aaron is 7, and has a huge imagination. he loves legos, the xmen, spiderman, all the normal boy stuff. he also loves to play baseball, and ride his 4 wheeler. he is a very talkative, sweet little boy, who follows his mommy all day, and goes crazy when i leave the room and he can't find me. he is going into 2nd grade, and has accomplished getting straight a's so far through his school career. he also gets his feelings hurt, really really easy.
genevive, is 4. she is an adorable, sweet, little angel, who is very loving and loves to be held, hugged, and is a big daddy's girl. she is also very smart, and very loud, loves to get into trouble, and hide from us, and fight with her brothers and sister, and she would like to be a zombie or a vampire when she grows up.
deegan is our 1 year old. he is a nutty little man, with no fear. he loves to giggle, is afraid of baths, loves cars and trucks and blocks, and he loves to climb, everything he can get his little arms and legs on!
he was born with cleft lip and club foot, and that is a whole other blog post series as well. but he has had a couple surgeries, and in time, will have a complete and full recovery;p
so, i believe i should write my blogs as a play. at least when i am writing about my family, or my day, and all of the exciting adventures we go through;p
i can't wait to meet your families as well!
